850/V70 Remote Control Coding

1. Turn the ignition key 5 times: OFF→ON→OFF→ON→OFF→ON→OFF→ON→OFF→ON. Leave key in ON position (position II, don't start engine). 2. Within 5 seconds, press one of the remote control buttons. 3. Remove the key and test if the remote control works. Newer 850s flash the turn signals as confirmation.

Code a maximum of 3 keys at a time: perform steps 1–2, then press the next remote control button within 10 seconds of the previous coding. All keys are coded in the same session.

If the key codes but doesn't work, the battery may be dead or the remote control itself is faulty. Recoding often helps as well when a key randomly fails to open one of the doors.
