850 PCV cleaning

850

How is the 850/V70 PCV valve cleaned?

1. Open the plastic cover on the throttle body (Torx screw), pull the cover toward the front and remove it. 2. Open the clamps (3 pcs) at the air filter exit and at the intake manifold connection. 3. Remove the tube on the air filter cover. 4. The PCV valve is located on the engine side of the intake manifold — turn it 15 mm counterclockwise and pull it out. 5. Remove the plastic part from the intake manifold and clean with solvent. 6. Also clean the throttle body with CRC spray and soft cloth or cotton rags.

Why is PCV valve cleaning worth doing?

PCV valve blockage causes crankcase pressure to rise, which can damage seals (e.g., crankshaft seals). After cleaning, the car feels better to drive and crankshaft seal problems are avoided.
