Inline engine idle adjustment
What can cause idle problems in inline engines?
In fuel-injected inline engines, idle problems typically result from incorrect throttle switch adjustment or incorrect throttle base adjustment.
How is the throttle switch adjusted?
Check that the switch clicks as the throttle opens. If it doesn't click, loosen the 3 mm hex bolts holding the switch and adjust the switch position so that it clicks immediately as the throttle opens. Tighten the bolts.
How is the throttle base adjustment made?
1. Disconnect the turbo/intake hose from the throttle base and clean the throttle plate and housing. 2. Check that the throttle plate is not loose on its shaft. 3. Warm up the engine. 4. Block one of the idle bypass hoses. 5. Adjust the idle from the screw beside the throttle shaft to approximately 500–600 rpm. 6. Adjust the idle switch to its correct position.
