Why do V70 bi-xenons illuminate poorly to the left?
V70 III bi-xenon low beams leave the left lane (oncoming traffic side) quite dark. This is due to the shade positioning inside the housing.
How is the low beam pattern improved?
The housing is disassembled and a copper wire insert is added between the metal grid holding the shade and the backing. The wire is hammered flat and cut narrower to fit without interfering with beam switching. Inserts are placed on both sides so the shade does not tilt.
What adjustments are needed after the modification?
1. Adjust the lights to height from the height adjustment so it does not dazzle oncoming traffic. 2. The height ratio of the xenon and auxiliary high beam changes — the auxiliary high beam may also need adjustment. 3. The bi-xenon unit can be adjusted by placing shims under the mounting bolts.
