Temperature Control Linkage Replacement V70
How does the temperature control linkage work?
The linkage operates two flaps and a servo motor controls one additional flap — meaning three flaps turn at the same time. The linkage is attached to the servo via a ball joint and each pin on the flaps sits in only one position.
How is the linkage disassembled?
The work is done from the driver's footwell. The linkage comes off the flap by pulling (initially it may require screwdriver assistance). The servo is held by two Torx screws. The ball joint is quite tight — disassembly is easier on a workbench than in the car.
How is the new linkage installed?
1. Carefully remove the ball joint arm from the servo by rocking it. Memorize the position. 2. Pull the heater core pipes out by the amount of slack they provide, so the linkage fits under the pipes toward the servo. 3. Install the part removed from the servo into the flap hole. 4. Press the linkage firmly onto the ball joint. 5. The servo slides onto the shaft by pressing — tighten the screws and reconnect the plug.
