Air conditioning compressor moisture removal

The instructions apply to almost all magnetic clutch compressors. The principle is to reduce the gap between the magnetic clutch plate and the pulley by removing an adjustment shim.

1. Remove the 10 mm center bolt from the compressor end. Hold the magnetic clutch rim with large pliers. 2. Screw 3 pcs 5×20 mm bolts into the magnetic clutch plate holes — these pull the plate off. 3. Finally pry carefully with a screwdriver, as the bolts do not pull the plate completely off. 4. In the center of the plate are adjustment shims (e.g. 0.1 / 0.3 / 0.8 mm). Remove the thickest shim so that the gap is approximately 0.3 mm. 5. Install the magnetic clutch plate back with the center bolt.

Officially, the magnetic clutch is not intended to be disassembled. Peek into the clutch interior with the front cover off: 5 mm bolts may slip onto the bearing socket, which can cause the socket to detach. Always check this.
