How is the V70 trip computer activated?
The trip computer is built into the instrument cluster but may not be enabled. The cheapest way is to replace the instrument cluster with one equipped with a trip computer and add the INFO control button. Button installation alone is not sufficient — activation is stored in the instrument cluster itself.
Which instrument clusters are compatible?
1997–1998: all instrument clusters work with each other (10v, 20v, T5, R, etc.) 1999–2000: all work with each other (except the 10v Fenix) Important: 1997–1998 models have mechanical throttle control, 1999+ have electronic. You cannot install an old cluster in 1999+ models — the speedometer, ABS, and TRACS will not function.
How can you tell if the instrument cluster has a trip computer?
You cannot visually determine if a trip computer is enabled from the outside — it only becomes clear when the cluster is installed in the car. If the display shows DISC, the control button is disconnected or loose (DISCONNECTED). The control button is connected to the car's existing wiring harness.
