What is needed for automatic transmission oil change?
Supplies: Jack and jack stands Measuring containers and oil drain pans Clear rubber tubing (25 mm inner diameter) for oil cooler Thin tubing and funnel for filling through dipstick hole 9–12 liters of transmission fluid (e.g., Mobil ATF 3309 = Volvo original) New clip for cooler tubing
What are the oil change work steps?
1. Warm up the transmission (10–30 km driving). 2. Lift the car and remove the underbody cover. 3. Open the transmission drain plug. 4. Close plug (40 Nm), measure the drained oil and refill the same amount through the dipstick hole. 5. Disconnect the oil cooler tubing from the driver side and install flush tubing in its place. 6. Start the engine, drain 1.5–2 liters and shut off. 7. Refill the same amount. 8. Repeat steps 6–7 until the oil is clear. 9. Reconnect the cooler tubing.
