D24 technical specifications — head gaskets, oversizes, part numbers

D24 engine head gaskets are notched to indicate thickness with 1–3 notches (the more notches, the thicker). The safe solution is always to use a 3-notch gasket, but optimal selection can be made based on piston protrusion: Piston protrusion 0.67–0.80 mm → 1-notch gasket Piston protrusion 0.81–0.90 mm → 2-notch gasket Piston protrusion 0.91–1.02 mm → 3-notch gasket

Oversize pistons come in 3 series (base size + 3 oversizes), each with 3 honing groups. A three-digit code indicates the honing group and is found on the piston. Oversize I: Piston 76.73 mm, cylinder 76.76 mm (honing code 676) Oversize II: Piston 76.98 mm, cylinder 77.01 mm (honing code 701) Oversize III: Piston 77.48 mm, cylinder 77.51 mm (honing code 751) One increase in honing number increases the piston and cylinder diameter by 0.01 mm.
