Remote Control Coding
Remote Control Coding
Remote control re-coding is useful if you've acquired a new remote, changed batteries, or if the remote has lost communication with the car. With the same coding, you can program multiple remotes at once (max. 3 units).
Programming Step by Step
Preparation: Sit in the car and close all doors (engine cover and hood must also be closed). Activation: Place the key in the ignition and turn it rapidly from OFF to ON position five (5) times in sequence. OFF -> ON -> OFF -> ON -> OFF -> ON -> OFF -> ON -> OFF -> ON Completion: Leave the key in ON position (II) on the fifth turn. The car's electronics are now in programming mode. Coding: Immediately (within 5 seconds) press the Open or Lock button on the remote. The car will usually confirm coding by flashing lights or dashboard LED (depending on model/alarm).
Programming Multiple Remotes (max. 3 units)
If you have multiple remotes, they must be coded simultaneously: Complete steps 1–4 for the first remote. Within 10 seconds, press the button on the next remote. Repeat the same for a possible third remote. When all remotes are pressed, turn off power (OFF).
Troubleshooting: Remote Won't Code?
Battery: Check that the remote's battery is in good condition. If coding fails, try a new battery. Timing: Five turns must be done at a brisk pace (within approximately 10 seconds). If you're too slow, the system won't enter programming mode. Doors open: If any door or hatch is ajar, programming usually won't start. Faulty remote: If the remote doesn't respond to programming even with a new battery, the button microswitches or circuit board may be faulty. Tip: You'll save significant amounts by coding a new remote yourself, as dealerships usually charge a labor fee for this.
